The Ontario government has introduced the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program to stimulate the growth of renewable energy generation. The MicroFIT program applies to "micro” generation systems with 10kW or less in generation capacity. By qualifying for a solar MicroFIT contract, you will be entitled to a fixed rate for all the energy produced by your solar array. The contracts are government backed for a 20-year period. In southern Ontario you can expect to make approximately $1000 a year per kW installed.
